Fruity is the new sapphic web series that went viral before it even existed

So here is where we are. A teaser for a show that did not technically exist yet landed on Instagram, introduced us to two flatmates accidentally running a gay juice empire, and promptly sailed past 7 million views. The people had spoken. And, the crew behind it listened: they made the web series, it is now here, and it is free to watch on YouTube.

That show is Fruity, a new sapphic web series made by Cork sisters Shannon and Megan Haly, and it is every bit as fun as the teaser promised.

What is Fruity, and who is in it?

Fruity follows Alice (Madison Cawley), a hopeless romantic who sets up a fake Instagram account purely to keep tabs on her crush. Naturally, it becomes an overnight sensation. Before she can think it through, she and her flatmate Clarke (Carys Clempner) are running a very real, very gay juice business neither of them asked for. Think The L Word meets Broad City: warm, funny, a bit of a mess, unmistakably sapphic.

The whole thing was written and co-directed by Shannon and Megan, shot by DOP Scarlett Gardner and produced by Lia Gomez Lang. No streamer, no commissioner, no waiting around for permission. When 7 million people have already told you they want something, why would you? “Too often, queer creators are expected to wait for permission,” the sisters have said. “We wanted to take a different approach.” Reader, they did.

Fruity is going out weekly, and the episodes are bite-sized, around two minutes each, so catching up takes no time at all. Here is the run:

Episode one: 20 August 2026
Episode two: 27 August 2026
Episode three: 3 September 2026

New episodes every week after that. Set a reminder, obviously.
