Interview with Sara Fregosi – The Housekeeper from I Kissed A Girl

Sara Fregosi

We caught up with Sara Fregosi who you may know from I Kissed a Girl as the ‘Housekeeper.’ She told us who she may have had her eye on in the Masseria if she is dating anyone right now and what it is like being a lesbian in a small town in Italy.

So, tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Sara and I’m the housekeeper of this bella Masseria, but you already know it!
Jokes aside, in the real life I’m a content creator – mainly on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube – and a psychology student.

I’m getting my degree in September with a thesis on “Minority Stress among LGBTQ+ people”. I’m 25 and I live in a small town near Genoa, in the north of Italy – pretty far from the beautiful Puglia, where the show was made.

I think many lesbians may be questioning about my star sign: I’m a Pisces, and my sun rising is Leo. I would describe myself as an introvert among people I don’t know but as a clown with my closest friends.

How did you end up being the sexy housekeeper on I kissed a girl?

I don’t know about the “sexy” part: I felt so anxious every single time I met the girls in the Masseria! The gay panic was real.

I have to be honest: I would have never imagined to be part of a reality show, not even in Italy. It was my first TV appearance and everything was new. Long story short, someone in the production team saw me on TikTok and decided to cast me as the housekeeper. I don’t know if it was a good idea: let the lesbians speak!

What was the best part of being a part of the show?

This is the first UK reality show about queer women and one of the first ones on the entire planet: this gave a lot of representation to women who love women, and I’m so proud to be a small part of something this important. My younger closeted self would have really needed it.

In addition, meeting queer women from another country gave me a different perspective on my identity as a lesbian woman and made me realise what a bad situation we have here in Italy.

If you could have been a contestant on the show, which girl would you have your first kiss with?

I’m the housekeeper: I have to be professional, you know?
I can just tell you that I usually have a type: femmes with dark hair and light eyes are my weaknesses.

Where did you get your famous suit from?

The suit is from Mango! As soon as the production team showed me the outfit,  I instantly fell in love with it.

Many people keep asking me why I’m always wearing the same suit in every episode: this is Dannii’s fault. She blew the budget for the outfits!

The truth is: I was the housekeeper, and that suit was my uniform!

What have you been up to since the show?

Since the end of the show I finished my exams at uni and I wrote my thesis. I can’t wait to get my psychology degree!

Being silent on the show for so many months on my social accounts – the show was made in September- was so hard… I knew it would have been something amazing.

Are you dating anyone?

I had been single for a year after a pretty long relationship, and I was single while we were recording the show, but at the end of March, I met my actual girlfriend! We’re so much in love and I’m really happy. Yeah, I know it’s only been a couple of months, but I’m a lesbian, leave me alone!

Thanks for chatting to us Sara.
