There’s a seismic shift happening in the queer festival scene, and it’s about to head to Ireland – welcome Dykonic Festival, Ireland’s first-ever large-scale music festival designed by and for queer women, non-binary folk, and the wider FLINTA* community. Taking over Orlagh House in Dublin on August 9th, 2025.
What is Dykonic Festival?
If you’ve ever stood at the back of a mainstream music festival, clutching a warm tinny, wondering where all the queers are – this might be your answer. Dykonic is the outdoor extension of Dykon, the iconic (sorry, dykonic) queer women’s club night that’s been packing out Dublin dancefloors since 2022. After selling out monthly events and scoring a GALA LGBTQ+ Awards nomination, it’s now launching a full-day festival built entirely around queer music.
Curated for a 1,000-strong crowd: Think: music, sunshine (hopefully, it is Ireland after all), and an excellent queer line-up.
“Queer, Loud and Rooted in Joy”
That’s the mantra from Dykonic founder Mafalda (Mafi) Hruskova, who goes on to explain:
“I wanted a full day where our community is celebrated on the main stage – where we don’t have to shrink. This is about reclaiming space, dancing in daylight, meeting each other fully, and building something we’ve never had before.”
The Line-Up
Beth McCarthy | ARXX | Fox Gunn | VANÈS | Inge Lamboo | Bobbie Arlo | Ettie
We heard from a couple of the artists. Here’s what they had to say.
Fox Gunn (a favourite on the sapphic gig circuit) says it best:

“As an artist, I get to perform to my favourite crowd — queer people from all over the world — and work with a team who know what we need. As a fan, I get to be my full self freely, without being scared.”
Meanwhile, ARXX, Brighton’s iconic alt-rock duo (and absolute legends live), state:
“The only thing better than Queers are Irish Queers. Dublin is our favourite place to play and we plan to have a lot of fun!”
Then there’s viral pop disruptor VANÈS, who’s promising you unreleased bangers and “the real-life experience of her gay panic videos.”
And finally, we heard from Inge Lamboo, whose ethos sums up the Dykonic vibe perfectly:
“I want to be a voice for the queer community and show people it’s 100000% okay to be themselves.”
