Lucy Bronze: Career, Dating History & Highlights

If London had statues, Lucy Bronze (among other players in the England Women’s squad) would have one. Oh wait, London does have statues… Ok, we joke (but seriously though) – Lucy Bronze needs some credit where credit is due, she’s a machine when it comes to the pitch, but she isn’t loud. She’s not a look at me player. But somehow everyone’s looking anyway. Read on to find out all you need to know about Lucy Bronze’s career, facts and love life for the most asked questions, or use the helpful skip to links below.

Is Lucy Bronze Married?

Lucy Bronze, the absolute legend of women’s football and England’s defensive rock, keeps her private life pretty low-key. So, the big question – Is Lucy Bronze married? Nope, not as far as the public knows. She’s super focused on smashing it on the pitch and hasn’t made any official announcements about tying the knot or being hitched. Like many athletes, she tends to keep her personal stuff under wraps, which makes sense – sometimes you just want to play football and avoid the gossip columns, right?

Who is Lucy Bronze’s Partner, and is she in a relationship?

Spanish player Ona Batlle is rumoured to be Lucy’s girlfriend currently, more on this below.

History of a Legend

the dinah

Berwick-upon-Tweed birth certificate, big-club energy. Lucy did the climb the unfussy way – Sunderland, Everton, Liverpool, City, Lyon (collect-all-the-trophies mode), Barcelona – and now Chelsea, Champions League nights? Just another midweek.

The England Bit

The England bit: constant pressure, still chill. Euro ’22 put her in lights; ’25 kept her there. Right-back on paper; the one making it all tick. When it gets messy, she’s the quiet “we’re fine” – the reason the 89th-minute panic never lands. (Although we do panic regardless).

Is Lucy Bronze Queer?

Oh, did we not mention she is QUEER? Openly LGBTQ, Bronze keeps it low-drama. Currently: Spain’s Ona Batlle – photo captions went with “partners” post-Euro 2025, and they pop up in the odd holiday snap. (Awks at the Women’s Euros).

If you were keen-eyed in the Women’s Euro Finals between England and Spain, you may have seen Ona coming over to make sure Bronze was ok when she looked to be injured. Oh, and we also caught the touching moment post-match between them when Ona lovingly stroked Bronze on the cheek. Cute. Before that, it’s rumoured that Bronze was dating Keira Walsh. Also quite awkward because they share the same pitch when playing for England.

On and Off the Pitch

Off the pitch, Bronze skips the thirst traps; it’s mostly the dog, coffee, family and holidays. She is subtle and humble (we love).

On the pitch? She’s a hybrid – defender, midfielder, wide playmaker – whatever you need, for Chelsea. She’s there. There’s a confidence in her game that doesn’t scream. Calm, composed, lowkey brutal when she needs to be. I mean, we all know that she was playing most of the England games with a torn tibia, if that doesn’t scream legend, we don’t know what does.

She might be thirty-something in football years, but nothing’s dulled. At Chelsea, she keeps adding silver, and with England, she leads without the noise.
