We haven’t even seen season 2 yet, and Netflix has already decided it wants more Maple Brook. The Hunting Wives has been renewed for a third season, announced on 7 October 2026 in a video starring Malin Åkerman, Brittany Snow and Jaime Ray Newman.

It’s a rare move for a streamer better known for cancelling queer shows too soon than renewing them early. So if you’ve been rationing your rewatches of Sophie and Margo, here is everything you need to know about season 3, and exactly when season 2 lands in the UK and US.
Is The Hunting Wives season 3 confirmed?
Yes, officially. Netflix has ordered eight more episodes, more than seven weeks before season 2 even premieres. Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter says the scripts are already coming together, and she isn’t promising anyone a calmer ride: “Buckle up, because Season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.”
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, Cutter said the cast are just as excited as she is, that the world of the show keeps getting bigger, and that the stakes this time are very high indeed.
Cutter has said before that she’d like the show to run for at least four seasons, so this renewal gets her one step closer.
There’s no release date for season 3 yet, and no plot details either – which makes sense, given that revealing who’s back would tell us who survives season 2. If it follows the same turnaround as season 2, late 2027 looks like a fair guess.
When is season 3 filming?
Netflix hasn’t confirmed dates, but cast member Dermot Mulroney (Jed) let slip earlier this year that writers were already in the room and filming was pencilled in for the autumn. He also said the story is now going well beyond May Cobb’s original novel.
There could be a change of scenery behind the camera, too. The first two seasons were filmed around Charlotte, North Carolina, standing in for East Texas, but the production is reportedly moving to Georgia for season 3.

When is The Hunting Wives season 2 out in the US?
Season 2 lands on Netflix on Thursday 26 November 2026 – Thanksgiving Day. All eight episodes drop at once, so plan your holiday weekend accordingly.
When is The Hunting Wives season 2 out in the UK?
This is the good bit for British sapphics. Season 1 was famously locked to Netflix US, because Netflix had only licensed the American rights, and UK viewers had to wait until it turned up on ITVX at the end of 2025.
Season 2 is different. The show is now a fully Netflix-branded original, and Netflix is releasing it in nearly every country where it operates. That means UK viewers should be able to stream it on Netflix from Thursday 26 November 2026, at the same time as the US. Netflix releases usually go live at 8am UK time.
Where can I watch season 1?
In the US, season 1 is on Netflix. In the UK, all eight episodes have been streaming on ITVX, free with ads. In Australia, the show is on Stan.
If you need a refresher before 26 November: season 1 ended with Margo exposed as Abby’s killer, both marriages in pieces, and Sophie behind the wheel in a second hit-and-run – this time killing Margo’s brother, Kyle, and dumping his body in a reservoir.
What is season 2 about?
According to Netflix, season 2 opens with Sophie and Margo on the outs, until old secrets and new enemies drag them back together. The question hanging over the season: “Are they the hunters or the hunted?”
Cutter has also teased a small time jump, and Brittany Snow has described the new episodes as wild. Given how season 1 ended, we believe her.
Snow has described season 1 as Sophie finally unravelling after years of playing the perfect wife and mother and hiding who she really is. Åkerman, meanwhile, says she loves Margo “more than anything”, and that slipping back into the role was easier second time round. One more thing to look out for: Margo has a brand-new wig.
Who is in the cast of season 2?
Brittany Snow (Sophie) and Malin Åkerman (Margo) are back, along with Dermot Mulroney (Jed), Jaime Ray Newman (Callie), Evan Jonigkeit (Graham) and George Ferrier (Brad). Karen Rodriguez and Hunter Emery have been promoted to series regulars as Deputy Salazar and Deputy Flynn, and Branton Box returns as Sheriff Jonny.
The new faces include John Stamos as Chase Brylan, Dale Dickey as Zelda Moffitt, Cam Gigandet as Gentle John Moffitt, Kim Matula and Alex FitzAlan. WNBA All-Star Angel Reese also joins in a co-starring role as Trainer Barbie, which is honestly reason enough to tune in.
We’ll update this piece as soon as there’s a season 2 trailer or any news on season 3 casting.
