Clear your evening plans. Arsenal Women have dropped Only in the Land – a brand new behind-the-scenes documentary charting their frankly unreal 2024/25 Champions League win, and yes, it’s exactly as emotional, gritty and goosebump-inducing as you’d hope. More footage of women footballers – our Christmas present has arrived in January – late, but we’ll take it.
The four-part series follows the team’s journey from a rocky start to the season to European glory, capturing the moments we didn’t see on the pitch – the pressure, the belief, the chaos, and the calm before history was made.
Let’s rewind.
After a turbulent opening run of fixtures, Renée Slegers steps up as head coach, and suddenly Arsenal’s European campaign becomes something special. The documentary tracks crunch clashes against Bayern Munich, jaw-dropping comebacks against Real Madrid and Lyon, and finally that night in Lisbon – where Arsenal beat two-time reigning champions Barcelona 1–0 thanks to a Stina Blackstenius goal that will live rent-free in our heads forever.

Narrated by former Gunner Jen Beattie (a voice you trust immediately), Only in the Land mixes exclusive interviews with players and coaches with genuinely unseen footage – including access to Renée’s team talks, tactical breakdowns, and top-tier dressing-room energy.

Episode four, in particular, is pure feelings. Defender Lotte Wubben-Moy sums it up perfectly, describing a moment so full of emotion she “wanted to burst”.
And crucially, this isn’t just about what happened on the pitch. The series gives proper credit to the supporters – from Meadow Park to Lisbon – whose noise, belief and rain-soaked dedication powered the team forward.
As Renée puts it in episode one:
“I remember the ground rocking, together with fans in the rain and there was so much grit and performance from the team.“
Episodes one to three are available to watch now on Arsenal.com, with the final episode landing on Friday 16 January. Consider this your official warning: you will cry, you will rewatch goals, and you will feel extremely proud.
