Three queer couples got legally married at a massive 500-person wedding party in Toronto

Event company Something teamed up with Two of Hearts Chapel – Toronto’s first Vegas-style wedding chapel – to throw Hitched, a massive celebration of love at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Three real queer couples got legally married in front of over 500 guests. In their best formal wear. At midnight. Because why the hell not!?

Before the main event, guests were greeted by a market packed with vendors selling everything from wax play candles to leather harnesses – so, your standard wedding gift registry. Queer 60s-inspired band SEXTÊTE provided the soundtrack while everyone shopped and socialised, before the crowd was ushered to the main dance floor for performances by Wrong Note Rusty and Tiffany Boxx, with music from Shorty DJ Hotline keeping things moving all night.

And because every great love story needs a little fun, Cupid herself – played by Hannah Rae Sabyan – spent the evening prancing through the crowd, matchmaking single guests and hand-delivering love notes. More events need a roaming Cupid.

Congrats to the newlyweds:

  • Megan and Em
  • Dylan and Diarmid
  • Cherene and Monica

There was laughter. There were tears. And obviously, there was dancing.

We look forward to seeing what event company Something has in store for their next event.
