Doechii grew up in Tampa, Florida, in a heavily religious household, where church was a big part of life, she’s talked about being in church constantly and performing there (singing, dancing, that whole ecosystem).
From early on she was doing a bit of everything: dance (ballet/tap), acting, cheer, gymnastics, football, basically always performing, even before music was the plan. She started writing poetry and rap lyrics in her teens, then began releasing music independently online (SoundCloud era, self-funded projects), building a following without a big machine behind her.
