Right, deep breath. After August put us all through it with two eclipses (how’s your colander holding out?), September arrives with a lot more planned for us. There’s a new moon in Virgo in the early hours of the 11th (fresh starts, lists, finally sorting out your inbox and your love life in the same week – whey), Venus sliding into Scorpio on the 10th so nobody is doing casual anymore, and Mercury into Libra the same day to make you diplomatic about things you are secretly furious about. Uranus also flips retrograde in Gemini on the 10th, which is why your group chat has suddenly reopened a debate from 2023.
Then it gets louder. Chiron reverses back into Aries on the 17th, the equinox lands at 1.05am on the 23rd and drags us into Libra season, there’s a full moon in Aries on the 26th (blunt, brave, slightly regrettable), Mars charges into Leo overnight on the 28th and Mercury heads into Scorpio on the 30th. Here’s what it means for all of you, in order, we don’t have favourites here.
Aries
Chiron backs into your sign on the 17th and the full moon on the 26th is in Aries too, so September hands you a mirror and refuses to let you look away. You will feel very seen and very annoyed about it. Start small while the Virgo new moon is still being sensible: water, sleep, a lunch that isn’t a meal deal eaten standing up. A Scorpio will meet your intensity without flinching and then raise you; a Leo will make being adored feel like a sport you’re both winning. Either is a good use of your September. At work the new moon rewards whoever does the boring admin nobody else will touch, and for once that could be you, if you can sit still. Friendship: apologise first this time. It costs you nothing, warrior.
Taurus
Venus, your ruler, moves into Scorpio on the 10th and parks in your relationship zone, so whoever you’re seeing is about to get serious at speed. If you’re single, someone is going to look at you like they’ve already made the decision and are waiting for you to catch up. A Cancer will remember your coffee order and your childhood stories; a Capricorn will be extremely dry, extremely reliable and privately obsessed with you. The Virgo new moon on the 11th lights up your creativity, which for you means making something with your hands and being smug about it. Career slows down. Don’t fight it. The Aries full moon would like you asleep by eleven at least once this month, which is ambitious, but so are we.
Gemini
Uranus stations retrograde in your sign on the 10th, and that’s your permission slip to change your mind about something big. This is a rethink, not a demolition. The new moon lands in your home sector, so rearrange the flat and stop living like you’re three weeks from moving out. In love, the person most likely to keep pace with you is a Libra, who’ll charm you into emotional honesty without you clocking that it’s happening. An Aquarius would also do nicely, being odd in precisely your favourite way and never once asking you to be less. Career picks up when Mars hits Leo on the 28th and your words get sharper. The Aries full moon puts your friends front and centre, so answer the message you’ve been leaving to marinate.
Cancer
Venus in Scorpio from the 10th sits right in your romance sector and it is a very good month to be a Cancer with a crush. Things go deep fast, which for once suits you perfectly. A Pisces will feel like coming home and also make you cry at a gig; a Virgo will show love by fixing your shelf and texting to check you got back safe. The Virgo new moon sharpens how you speak, so say the thing you’ve been rehearsing in the shower since June. The Aries full moon on the 26th hits your career zone and something you’ve been quietly building becomes visible to people who matter. Money steadies from the 28th. Ask for more than feels polite.
Leo
Mars comes home to Leo overnight on the 28th and you can feel it coming all month, like a stretch before a run. Until then the Virgo new moon puts your focus on money and worth: raise the rate, chase the invoice, stop doing free labour for people who call it exposure. A Sagittarius will match your appetite for a big night out and the bigger conversation that comes after it. An Aries will refuse to be intimidated by you, which is, if we’re honest, the most attractive thing anyone can do. The Aries full moon opens up travel and study, so book something you’ll have to save for. And you’ve been the loud one holding the group together again. Someone owes you a proper check-in.
Virgo
Happy birthday season, and happy new moon in your own sign on the 11th. It’s as close to a personal reset button as the sky gets. Whatever you start in that first fortnight has legs, so spend it on something you want rather than something you feel you should want. Venus in Scorpio makes your messages dangerous from the 10th. Flirt on purpose. A Taurus will be slow, steady and still there in March; a Capricorn will build a life with you like it’s a spreadsheet and mean it as poetry. The Aries full moon on the 26th brings an intimacy conversation to a head and no, you cannot organise your way around it. Mars in Leo from the 28th says rest. Please rest.

Libra
Mercury arrives in your sign on the 10th and the Sun follows at 1.05am on the 23rd, so the back half of September belongs entirely to you. Before that, the Virgo new moon wants you horizontal, offline and plotting. The Aries full moon on the 26th sits directly opposite you and lands on partnership, so something gets said out loud whether you’d planned to say it or not. You’ll get on with a Gemini, who’ll keep you laughing through the difficult part, though it’s a Leo who’ll be so obviously delighted by you that even you stop second-guessing it. At work your voice is the advantage, particularly in a room where everyone else is being vague. Money finds its feet from the 10th. Stop weighing it up.
Scorpio
Venus enters your sign on the 10th and Mercury follows on the 30th, so you spend September being looked at rather more than usual. Enjoy it. This is the glow-up window: get the haircut, buy the coat, walk into the room slowly. A Cancer will hand you their whole heart and trust you not to drop it, which is either terrifying or exactly right. A Pisces will understand your silences without asking you to explain them. The Virgo new moon on the 11th grows your circle, so say yes to the thing your friend’s friend invited you to, even though you don’t want to. Career gets a shove when Mars hits Leo on the 28th and somebody finally notices how much you’ve been carrying. Say the number out loud.
Sagittarius
The Virgo new moon lands at the top of your chart on the 11th, and ambition with an actual plan attached is rare for you, so make it count. Put your name down before you feel ready, because you never will. Love waits until the Aries full moon on the 26th, which drops fireworks into your romance sector and turns a fling into something you have to think about. An Aquarius will be as allergic to clinginess as you are. Very healthy, or a mutual avoidance pact. A Leo will make an ordinary Tuesday feel like an occasion. Venus in Scorpio from the 10th means you’re keeping a crush to yourself, and you can, for now. You’ve also been flaky, and your friends are too polite to say so.
Capricorn
The new moon on the 11th opens up travel, study and anything that makes your world bigger than your to-do list. Book the flight or take the course, and be a beginner at something for a change. Venus in Scorpio from the 10th puts romance in your friendship circle, so the person you’ve been calling “just a mate” for a suspiciously long time is about to become a situation you can’t control. Two candidates: a Virgo, who’ll match your standards without ever making you feel difficult, and a Taurus, who’ll feed you, back you and never rush you. The Aries full moon on the 26th settles something domestic that’s been dragging. Career eases off, and yes, you can log out at six.
Aquarius
Uranus, your ruler, goes retrograde in Gemini on the 10th, right in your romance zone, so a love thing you thought you’d worked out is back open for review. The Virgo new moon on the 11th gets you honest about intimacy, money and all the other subjects you’d rather handle by email. A Gemini will talk at you for six hours and leave you energised rather than flattened. A Libra will make closeness feel easy instead of like a trap. Career shines from the 10th with Venus in Scorpio at the top of your chart and people wanting you in the room. The Aries full moon sharpens your words on the 26th. Use them kindly.
Pisces
The Virgo new moon on the 11th sits opposite you in your partnership sector, so September wants you specific about what you need from other people. Vague longing is not a plan, babe. Venus in Scorpio from the 10th brings romance with a bit of distance built into it: a holiday thing, a long-distance thing, someone who lives two trains away and is worth the fare. A Scorpio will go as deep as you do and never once call you too much, and a Cancer will build a soft little world with you inside a fortnight. The Aries full moon on the 26th is about money and self-worth, and for you those have always been the same conversation. Charge properly. Mars in Leo tidies your routine from the 28th, which you’ll pretend to hate.
Whatever the stars are doing to you this month, remember: astrology is a vibe, not a life coach our friends. Take what serves you and ignore the rest.
Nonchalant x
