The 2026-27 Barclays Women’s Super League kicks off across the weekend of 4-6 September, with fixtures dropping on 30 July. Which gives you roughly six weeks to sort your listening out.
The women’s football podcast scene has grown up fast. There are broadcaster-backed shows with real budgets, independents doing sharp analysis, and club-level pods run by people who genuinely care whether Watford go up. There are also, it must be said, quite a lot of shows where women’s football gets ten minutes at the end of a men’s football discussion. None of those are on this list.
Here’s where to start.
Counter Pressed
Hosted by: Flo Lloyd-Hughes, with a rotating cast including Jessy Parker Humphreys, Becky Taylor-Gill and Max Radwan
Flo Lloyd-Hughes is a football journalist and commentator, and also edits The Cutback, a media platform and newsletter doing in-depth analytical women’s football writing. Counter Pressed is her show, now on The Ringer and Spotify, and it publishes twice a week – Mondays and Thursdays.
The pitch is unfiltered discussion and analysis covering the WSL, the Champions League and the wider global game, and it delivers on that. What makes it work is the balance: proper tactical analysis sitting alongside the messier, funnier stuff about women’s football fan culture, without either feeling bolted on. The rotating guest format keeps it exciting too.
Worth knowing that the show has been openly, repeatedly supportive of trans inclusion in women’s sport.
The Guardian’s Women’s Football Weekly
Hosted by: Faye Carruthers with Guardian football writer Suzanne Wrack

The establishment pick, and deservedly so. Carruthers and Wrack bring in guests from across the women’s game to work through the biggest stories, and the coverage genuinely does range – the WSL and NWSL, the Champions League, Liga F, the Frauen-Bundesliga and the D1 Féminine all get airtime.
It’s the show to listen to if you want depth rather than a scores round-up, and the guest list is consistently strong. Regular contributors include Sophie Downey, Tom Garry, Emma Sanders and Ayisha Gulati.
Upfront
Hosted by: Chloe Morgan and Rachel O’Sullivan
From the Football Ramble stable, and one of the more relaxed listens here. Morgan is a former professional goalkeeper, O’Sullivan comes from GirlsontheBall, and the combination gives you someone who’s played at the top level alongside someone who’s covered it closely for years.

Weekly reaction and analysis through the season, with a decent run of guests. If you find some of the more analytical shows a bit heavy going, this is the chattier end of the spectrum without being lightweight.
Making a Manager
Hosted by: Jo Currie
The newest show on this list, launched in May 2026 and produced by Crowd Network with the League Managers Association.
The premise is an interview series with the people in the dugout – the ones who usually get about four seconds of reaction footage and nothing else. The opening run features Andree Jeglertz, who won the WSL at the first attempt with Manchester City, and Amy Merricks, the Birmingham City manager who won WSL 2.

It’s a genuinely underserved angle. Managers in the women’s game have taken routes into the job that look nothing like the men’s game equivalent, and almost nobody asks them about it properly. Available on Apple Podcasts, the Barclays WSL and WSL 2 YouTube channels, and the usual platforms.
Extra Time with GirlsontheBall
Hosted by: Rachel and Sophie from GirlsontheBall
GirlsontheBall have been covering the women’s game for years, and Extra Time is their weekly run through the WSL, WSL 2, the Champions League and internationals. Snappy and informative is the promise, and it’s accurate – this is the one to put on when you want to be caught up rather than lectured.
They also do feature episodes and the occasional live show, including one recorded at Under the Bridge at Stamford Bridge with Eni Aluko and Carly Telford.
The Women’s Football Show
Hosted by: Lianne Sanderson, with Uma Gurav
talkSPORT’s women’s football offering, fronted by former Lioness Lianne Sanderson. Weekly, with analysis, debate and a strong guest list – recent episodes have featured Fran Kirby, Laura Harvey, Emma Byrne and Becky Langley.
Pitch to Pod
Hosted by: Caroline Barker, with Nikita Parris and Jordan Nobbs
Sky Sports’ contribution, and the selling point is obvious: two current WSL players talking about what the job is actually like. Parris and Nobbs have 138 international caps between them and the show trades on that access – dressing room conversation rather than punditry.
It moves between the light-hearted and the more serious, and it’s a useful counterweight to shows made entirely by journalists.
The Women’s Football Podcast
Hosted by: Kaye Holland, Luke Edwards and Andrew Raeburn, with rotating contributors
Winner of Best in Women’s Football (Creator) at the 2024 Football Content Awards, and the one on this list that goes furthest down the pyramid. The WSL and WSL 2 get covered, but so does the National League, and that’s rare.
If your team isn’t in the top flight, or you want to know what’s happening at Wolves, Watford or Burnley rather than the same four clubs, start here.

Hosted by: Brad Morris and Regan Walsh
At least one episode a week, plus bonus episodes when news breaks. Covers the WSL, Europe and the NWSL, with reaction to the weekend’s matches and the bigger talking points.
There’s a free Substack newsletter and a YouTube channel alongside it if you’d rather read or watch.
A few more worth your time
If you want to widen the net beyond the UK, Behind the Goals is hosted by Scotland internationals Rachel Corsie and Leanne Crichton and covers the Scottish game at club and international level. For North American coverage, Attacking Third does strong tactical analysis on the NWSL and USWNT, and The Women’s Game from the Men in Blazers network is hosted by former USWNT World Cup winner Sam Mewis alongside Becky Sauerbrunn and Lynn Biyendolo.
And if you support a specific club, it’s worth checking whether there’s a dedicated pod – the Spurs Women fan podcast has been running since 2022, and Birmingham’s Tilton Talk is well established.
