The BBC has confirmed that I Kissed A Girl series 2 lands on BBC Three and iPlayer on Tuesday 23 June 2026 at 9pm – and it’s the final outing for the whole I Kissed franchise.
If you’ve been keeping up, this won’t come as a total shock. Back in March, the BBC announced this run would be its last, drawing a line under four seasons that did something genuinely rare on British telly: put queer dating front and centre. I Kissed A Boy kicked things off in 2023 as the UK’s first gay dating show, with I Kissed A Girl arriving the year after for the lesbian and bisexual daters among us.
The reason given for pulling the plug? Money. The BBC said the show was axed in light of funding challenges, with no current plans to bring it back.

What to expect from series 2
Ten episodes, ten single women, one Italian Masseria, and the usual mix of butterflies, awkward kisses and group-villa tension. Dannii Minogue returns as host, and narrator Charley Marlowe isn’t just back on voiceover duty – she’s making a special appearance out in Italy for the send-off. It’s produced by Twofour.

Minogue posted a video after the cancellation news broke, thanking the productions and the BBC for putting the show on air, and saying the series made her proud because it celebrated the community. The cast, she said, shared their love, their lives and their stories – and series four is “not far off.”
Marlowe, speaking to Attitude at the BAFTA TV Awards, was more openly gutted. She said she felt sad and disappointed for the community, because the shows mean so much to so many people. She also reached for a line that gets quoted a lot for good reason – “you can’t be what you can’t see” – and worried about how many people will now miss out on seeing themselves on screen.
Hard to argue with that. Representation like this doesn’t grow on trees, and it’s frustrating to watch it disappear just as it found its feet. At least we get one more summer of it.
